where are the blu ray bonus features?

I was not particularly discerning as a nine year old when this first came out, and the action sequences in Phantom Menace are pretty great. Podracing is cool and epic lightsaber duels featuring Darth Maul and his double-bladed saber are amazing, but having rewatched it as an adult it really is a mess.

So Phantom Menace is an interesting film. Released sixteen years after Return of the Jedi, everybody was excited to see the return of Star Wars to theaters and see the path that led Anakin Skywalker to become Darth Vader. As a film it's decent enough. The plot and battle sequences aren't bad, the dated cgi in older DVD versions let it down a little, the music is excellent. The biggest problem is that it wasn't the Star Wars fans expected. I admit, we could've done without Jar Jar, though he does fit into the plot. He probably could've been toned down a bit. The battles are well done, and the Duel between Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Darth Maul is very well done. Does it hold up? Sort of. I've heard the visual quality on the Blu-Ray is better. It's fun for EU/Legends fans to try and spot recognizable background species on Tatooine. Overall it's an okay movie and is necessary to the bigger picture of the prequels. Star Wars fans will always be divided over it, so go ahead and give it a whirl.

I only watched the whole movie in the fervent hope that the insipid, wretched Jar Jar Binks would die a horrible death. I was very disappointed that this thing lived. What empty-headed chuckle monkey thought this would be a good character? Worst movie character ever.

I love this Movie! It has an interesting story, an amazing soundtrack, and one of the most coolest lightsaber fights in the entire franchise! It is truly underrated and hated for no good reason.

In a glaxy, far, far away. We see the beginning of the Star Wars unverse, and the characters ( and yes even the droids ). One of George Lucas's great film Epics

What are you guys talking about?! Jar Jar is awesome. He provides comic relief to the story and is the coolest ever. I love Qui-Gon as well. He is a really cool Jedi. He's kind of the dignified rebel in the Jedi Order. Probablly embarrasses Obi-Wan a lot, But awesome. I'd give the movie Four stars.

PART OF A MARATHON, ONE AFTERNOON VIEWING

The starting 20 minutes of this is so dense in its provision of information and background, coupled with explosions and action, that it could easily be provided in a movie of its own. I had to re-start the film in order to catch material not understood (although I was stuffing envelopes at the time).

The characters could have used more humanity, and the creatures could have used it as well. There's so much on display for the sake of "lookey and see what we can do digitally!"

A fair start, with promise.
