3 Stars - I might recommend if you enjoy fluffy contemporary "women's fiction" with a fun family dynamic and a bit of romance.

When Margot loses her high-profile event planning job in Chicago due to event disaster no one will hire her, that is until she hears from her long lost aunt in Lake Sackett Georgia. She takes her up on the offer and moves down to Georgia to work at the family funeral home and bait shop combo. Margot is planning to stay for as short of a stay as possible, but that is easier said than done. When she meets single dad Kyle Archer and starts re-kindling her relationship with her father and her other relatives she'll find Lake Sackett harder to leave than she expected.

I loved the quirky idea behind the plot: moving back to a small southern town to help with the family funeral home and bait shop. What a combination. I loved the quirky family aspect of the book, and some of the shenanigans they got into at work. The book did start a bit slow for me, and I wish it would have been a little more packed with funny conversations and situations but I liked it well enough. I liked Margot and Kyle and the contrast between the two of them. I liked his daughters and the relationship that they had. I'm kind of a sucker for a single parent as the main love interest in the story. Overall I think I wanted just a bit more quirk, and it to go just a little bit faster. I was just kind of bored. I have the second and third books, so we'll see how it goes.

Fun cozy, action, outrageous job as an undertaker receptionist.

After being publicly humiliated, event planner Margot gets a mysterious phone call from a distant relative in Georgia, offering her a job. With no prospects in sight, she decides to pack up and move to Georgia to see what it has to offer. When she arrives, she meets her father (who was not a part of her life), and several odd, but likable relatives. While settling into life at the funeral parlor and bait shop (yes, you read that correctly), she meets the town widower and falls in love.

Molly Harper does not disappoint in her newest series - there are laugh-out-loud moments and heartwarming times when you just want to say "awwwww".

This was the first book I have read by Molly Harper and it will not be my last. I love the south and "Sweet Tea and Sympathy" just nailed it. "Sweet Tea and Sympathy" is about family reunions, taking care of family, forgiveness, overcoming life's obstacles, belonging, support, and good ole southern hospitality. Margot returns to her birthplace after a huge snafu leaves her jobless with no job in site. Margot's southern roots bring her home and she needs to decide whether she wants to stay or return to the big city, leaving a father she is just reunited with and a possible love. A great read!

Cute southern romance. Easy to read writing style. Enjoyed it!

As a fan of Molly Harper's paranormal romances about vampires and werewolves, I was happy to find the same humor and sense of community in this contemporary Southern romance. Sweet Tea and Sympathy begins the Southern Eclectic series featuring the McCready family of Lake Sackett, GA and their business, the McCready Family Funeral Home and Bait Shop.
