Caitlyn Sullivan is just nine years old when a game of Hide and Seek at a family party will change her life forever. The betrayal she experienced that night will shape Caitlyn's life, and for years she runs and runs, hiding from the aftermath of the trauma. But Caitlyn comes to realize that if she wants to not just survive but thrive she must return to the family home to face up to her past.
I don't know if Nora has lost her touch or if I've out grown her. The last few I've read form her just didn't vibe with me. This titled felt drawn out and emotionally shallow. The main character, Cate, felt flat to me and I didn't connect with her. There was high emphasis on familial connections that never really hit the mark. Might have to set NR aside and try out some new authors. Will keep reading the In Death series though!
I enjoyed it until about mid point and then I hit a wall and struggeld to complete. Noramlly I would plow through in a couple of days but (sorry to those waiting for a copy) I put it aside for a week as I lost interest. It was way too long for the story line as we all knew what was going to happen - little suspense and yet not all answers tied up in the end. Not her best effort. It had been a while since I read one of her books and now I know why.
I listened to the audio version of this book. The narration by January LaVoy was extraordinary! She is so good at so many different voices. To be honest, she is the reason I gave 5 Stars.
The story itself is probably 4 Stars. I haven't read Nora Roberts for quite awhile. I much preferred when she was writing straight up romances.
The first 3/4s was good. I liked the characters. The last 1/4 can be interchanged with most any other book by this author. The writing went from interesting exposition to almost entirely dialogue to finish the last 100 pages. Contrived ending by adding a last minute character.

Once again another great book by Nora Roberts. She is one of my favourite authors and this one didn't disappoint. Loved it.
This book wasn’t one of her best but it was a fast and easy read.

The plot evolved fast from just reading the first few chapters; wish it would slow down instead of being like this happened then this then this

As always, enjoyed this book. Great story and awesome writer! Love her writing.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book !! Would have liked at least one more chapter to finish up the story.
