Add a CommentAfter watching 1/2 of this schlock, I know that Jerry Lewis is the worst actor in history. And what is with this Dean Martin being some kind of crooner, ladies man, and overall heartthrob. Man this is brutal, was hoping to see a good script and some 'army' humor; there is none of each.
Watch with a 12 pack of strong beer..
This movie was hard to get into with Jerry Lewis' loud screeching bumbling character (guess it's funny for the times) and Dean Martin's character 'sliding and gliding' the system. Of course, worth watching when Martin gets to showcase his famous singing pipes in one convenient scene. The description here of the dvd accurately reflects the movie than the text on the cover. I don't have the dvd on me right now but someone in the post-production department inaccurately spun it as a 'romantic pursuit' - which by the way didn't happen until the last 1/4 of the film. The main plot's about Lewis and Martin's strained relationship with Martin acting like a @%# to his own friend upon attaining a higher authoritative rank above him, and constantly, denying Lewis' character a temporary pass to attend his wife's birth of their child - and just denying him in general. Watch it only if you've got time to kill.
