Bosch volunteered without paid in the police department of the 2.374 sq mile San Fernando, an enclave in LA county, while working as a PI to fill in the rest of the time after forced into retirement from the ranks of LAPD. Naturally his skill set was in high demand. However, he might have tried to do more than he should. Didn't care much about those police procedural details as in his recent books but liked the twists in his PI case and the art scenes of Chicano Park, a real place located under the Hwy 5 overpass and the exit to the bridge crossing San Diego Bay to Coronado Island. Decent mellow read for a detective thriller.
