This book was quite a fast read. For those familiar with the series, I thought the author spent less time developing the characters and their situations and a bit more time than usual on the plot and the action. Like other reviewers I found the plot very timely with themes of police corruption, terrorists, immigration, and global unrest. Another excellent installment in the Charlotte and Thomas Pitt series. Anne Perry never disappoints with her fascinating, detailed portrayal of the lifestyles and times of Victorian England. I loved reading this, and I think her fans will enjoy it as well.
